Questions have been raised lately concerning the ISO 8669 norm, which relates to urine drainage bags, as those offered by Curas Urology line.
ISO 8669 is a standard for urine collection/drainage bags. When a company meets ISO 8669-2 (Part 2), it means that the urine bag was designed and manufactured in a way that, when used under the conditions and for the purposes intended, there will not be any compromise to patient safety and the risk associated with the use of the bag would have already been evaluated as per the Risk Acceptability assessment requirements. The ISO 8669-2 only applies to body-worn and non-body-worn open-ended and closed urine collection bags. The standard does not apply to urine bags for paediatric uses.
Please be informed that the Curas Urology range of C2, C4, C6 and C8 urine drainage bags all meet this standard’s requirement - in full.

As reported to the partners and the general market, on this portal, in July 2013, Curas expands its Wipes range with an additional Airlaid produced disposable patient wipe which is macerator-friendly. By adding the REF 02091 product to its range, an opportunity arose to streamline the product offering.
REF 02090: 50gsm, 75pcs in a soft bag
REF 02091: 75gsm, 150pcs in a firm inner box
The choice product will come down to whether end-users prefer the larger-size, but thinner 02090 (50gsm now, previously 55gsm), or whether the end-users prefer the smaller-size, but thicker 02091 (75gsm).
The inner box configuration of the 02091 will meet those standards applied by our generic competitors, however, will in addition offer increased end-user flexibility in terms of its opening & closing mechanisms.
